Community membership exists so the profession’s knowledge does not sit behind a paywall. Register free and the three bodies of knowledge are yours to read in full, the same references working practitioners rely on:

• Information Security Office Body of Knowledge (ISOBOK)
• Artificial Intelligence Body of Knowledge (AIBOK) and
• Cyber Warfare Body of Knowledge (CWBOK)

It suits anyone taking their first steps, changing direction, or still deciding whether one of these fields is for them. There is no trial period and no expiry; when you want certification, extended community and standing, Professional is the next step.

The bodies of knowledge tell you what the profession knows. Professional membership is where you take your place in it. This is the tier for practitioners who expect to be judged by their peers rather than their job title – your standing on record, your development tracked, your certifications recognised, and your voice in a community that has already faced the decisions in front of you. Practitioners join at every stage of a career; what changes is the rate, not the membership.

Security is rarely done alone. Practice membership puts five colleagues on the same footing – each with a full Professional membership in their own name, not a shared login or a reduced seat. At a certain size, the problem stops being individual development and becomes organisational capability. Enterprise membership is built for that: seats sized to your organisation rather than a fixed package, and a named advisor who knows your programme rather than a support queue. It maps capability across your whole security function, gives your leadership a roadmap to plan against, and treats the arrangement as an engagement rather than a subscription.

Choosing your membership

Which membership is right for me?
Community is free – register and read the bodies of knowledge. Professional is for practising individuals and includes certification study, the peer community and your member credential. Practice covers up to five colleagues under one invoice. Enterprise is sized to your organisation. What’s the difference between Community and Professional?
Community gives you the knowledge. Professional gives you the profession: the ECCSP course library, the full peer community, your member credential and member rates on certification. The knowledge is the same in both – what changes is everything built around it.

Is Community really free, or is it a trial?
Genuinely free, with no expiry and no card required. It isn’t a trial, and it doesn’t downgrade after a period. We publish the bodies of knowledge openly because a profession’s reference material should be readable by the people entering it.

Access and benefits

How do I get access after I pay?
Immediately. If you don’t see it, refresh or log out and back in. Still stuck? Contact support.

I’ve paid but I’m locked out.
Almost always a second account – check you’re logged in with the email you paid with, and look at your dashboard to confirm which membership is active. If it still looks wrong, contact support and we’ll sort it.

How do member discounts work?
Automatically at checkout when you’re logged in – no voucher codes. They apply across all four qualifications (ECISO, ECAGO, ECCWP, ECCSP), their readiness courses and practice exams, and Eristotle learning pathways. Professional members get 10% discount, Practice 15% discount and Enterprise 20% discount. Discounts aren’t applied retrospectively.

Does membership include certification study materials?
Professional membership includes the bodies of knowledge and the complete ECCSP readiness pathway – all 22 CyBOK courses. Only the exam is charged separately. Other pathways and practice exams are separate purchases with your member discount applied.

What are CPD units and how many do I need?
Continuing Professional Development units are earned through webinars, events, chapter meetings and courses. Requirements vary by certification, and your CPD balance and maintenance status are tracked in Eristotle Certify.

Reduced rates and eligibility

Who qualifies for a reduced rate?
Professional membership is priced by circumstance: full rate for commercial and private sector, reduced rates for the public, education and social sectors, for students, and for retired professionals. The membership itself is identical at every rate — only the price changes.

Do I have to prove eligibility?
No paperwork at checkout – reduced rates are self-attested in good faith. Claiming a rate you don’t qualify for breaches our Code of Ethics and is grounds for cancellation without refund. We reserve the right to ask for verification, usually a letter from HR or student affairs.

I’m a student but also work. Which rate applies?
If you’re paid commercially for security or technology work, take the full rate. The student rate is for full-time study.

My circumstances changed mid-year. What now?
Nothing to do immediately – your current membership runs to its expiry date. Choose the rate that fits at your next renewal.

Practice and Enterprise

What counts as a seat?
One named individual, holding a full Professional membership in their own name – not a shared login.

We’re more than five people.
That’s Enterprise. Request a proposal and we’ll size seats, scope and terms with you.

Can we add seats during the year?
Practice is a fixed package of up to five. Beyond that, Enterprise adds seats at any point on a pro-rata basis.

What happens to unused seats?
Reassign them whenever people change roles or leave. Seats don’t roll over between annual terms, but they can be reallocated right up to renewal.

Do all seats have to be in the same country?
No. Seats are geography-agnostic – access, knowledge and rates apply equally worldwide.

Can we mix Practice or Enterprise with individual memberships?
Yes. Nobody holds two memberships at once, but if your employer’s Practice or Enterprise membership covers your seat, you’re already covered. If it doesn’t, hold a Professional membership in parallel.

Can we get a bespoke Enterprise arrangement?
Enterprise is tailored by default. For anything outside the standard package – very large seat counts, white-label delivery, sector-specific framework work – request a proposal.

Paying, renewing and cancelling

Can my employer pay, and can I get an invoice?
Yes. A full receipt is issued at checkout and can be submitted for expenses. If your employer needs to be invoiced directly, or wants to cover several people, talk to us – that’s usually a Practice membership.

Do memberships renew automatically?
No. Membership is a one-time annual purchase with no recurring charge and no stored mandate. We’ll email you as your renewal approaches, and you renew in a single checkout.

How do I cancel?
There’s nothing to cancel. Membership doesn’t auto-renew, so it simply ends on its expiry date if you choose not to renew. You’ll never be charged again automatically. We don’t refund unused time.

Will I lose time if I renew early?
No. Renewals are additive – we add a year to your existing expiry date rather than restarting from today. Renew a month early and you keep that month.

What happens when my membership lapses?
Your Professional benefits end on the expiry date, but your account doesn’t close – it reverts to free Community membership, so you keep the bodies of knowledge, your profile and your place here. You can rejoin any time from this page.

How do I upgrade or change tier?
Choose the membership you want and check out; the change takes effect immediately at the new membership’s full annual price. Because it’s immediate, any unused time on your previous membership isn’t carried over or refunded – so unless you need the change now, it’s usually best to switch at renewal.

Do I get credit for time left on my current membership?
Not at present. A change of tier is charged at the new tier’s full annual price with no proration. Renewing the same tier, by contrast, never loses time.

Can I hold more than one membership?
No – one at a time. Buying a different tier replaces your current one immediately; buying the same tier again renews it.

For retired professionals

Do I still get member discounts if I’m on the retired rate?
Yes. Reduced rates change what you pay for membership, not what you receive from it. Member pricing on certifications, renewals, courses and events applies exactly as it does at every other rate.

How can I contribute?
Retired members are among the most valuable voices here. The judgement calls you made over a career aren’t in any textbook, and the community is where they’re most useful – through the forums, and by writing for the community blog. If you’d like to contribute more formally, get in touch.
