Offensive and Defensive Cyber Operations

Join the Eristotle Certified Cyber Warfare Professional (ECCWP) Pathway to study this course and prepare for your Eristotle Certified Cyber Warfare Professional (ECCWP) certification exam.

  • Offensive cyber operations: strategies, methodologies, tactics, and tools for executing cyber-attacks
  • Defensive cyber operations: protective measures, threat detection, incident response, resilience, and mitigation techniques
  • Cyber War Games, Combat Modelling, and Systems Thinking
  • Red and blue team dynamics, scenario design, and outcome evaluation are central to both offensive and defensive operations content, making this the most natural fit.

Cyber War Games and Combat Modelling

Also look at NATO exercises.

Why cyber war games are becoming equally important as other mediums of war and deterrence? How can your cyber leadership can critically appraise the full range of war games and combat simulations and apply them to real problem facing your organisational security? What are the implication of applying the deterministic and stochastic equations to represent cyber capabilities between both homogeneous and heterogeneous forces? How the different methods of representing offensive cyber actors operations and capabilities are used in the training, testing and assessment?

Course structure

Hands-on practical activities and workshops to reinforce lecture presentations by allowing students to use real examples against set analysis problems guest speakers from industry and defence (MoD) who share and discuss their experiences of wargaming and combat modelling in practical applications.

What you will learn

On completion you will be able to:

  • Critically appraise the full range of war games and combat simulations and apply them to defence problem,
  • Use the deterministic and stochastic Lanchester equations to represent combat between both homogeneous and heterogeneous forces,
  • Use interactive computer based representations of military operations,
  • Explain how the different methods of representing the operations of military forces are used in the training, testing and assessment of those forces and their equipment.
